Hello reader! My (nick)name is Hoofie, and the outline page reading is my basic 101 guide to losing weight and/or getting strong.
So, why did I feel the need to write a book on this topic? Well, as someone who’s been power-lifting and generally trying to get stronger for about 10 or so years, I like to help out and give advice where I can. But… There's so much to cover, sometimes it’s hard to know where to start!
So I started writing up rough notes about each topic which I would just end up copy-pasting to Discords, Telegram chats and emails over and over.
After a while, I had so many of these chunks of advice and guidance, the idea came to me:
“It wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to bundle these all together into one single eBook!”
And that, dear reader, is what you have before you.
What is the goal of this book?
Fitness is an extensive topic, and trying to cover every facet and idea in a single book would be a fool's errand. So instead, my aim is to offer a basic 101 guide on where to get started on your fitness journey. This should hopefully help you get the foundational fitness concepts firmly in your mind, and you’ll be able to start asking more intermediate questions and do some further research for yourself based on your goals.
Important Caveat: I have no official qualifications in fitness or nutrition.
All the information taken from here is from about 10+ years of self-trial, friends lending a hand, reading work-out books and basically trial and error. So I’ve tried to keep to the core fundamentals on each topic, and where possible I’ve added citations, references and referred to recognised bodies like the NHS and CDC guidelines.
So, like with any information from the internet, trust… but verify!
If you have any serious health issues, before you start training I would always strongly recommend talking to a trained professional such as a personal trainer, physiotherapist or dietician.
